Welche Form kann sich ein Kunstwerk leihen, das etwas über dieses Gefühl der Entfremdung in der Gegenwart zu vermitteln versucht? Art & Alienation versammelt mehr oder weniger aktuelle Werke von 8 Künstler·innen, die am meisten in Europa leben. Jeder Künstler·in präsentiert Auszüge einer häufig experimentellen und sich in Bewegung befindenden Praxis. Ihre eigenen Universen verdecken dabei eine geteilte Idee: Die künstlerische Praxis ist immer auch eine Kritik an der Produktion. Das Schaffen erscheint stets schon durch die Abstraktion des Kapitals entfremdet. Die Unauflösbarkeit der Widersprüche in Bezug auf den sozialen, kreativen und ökonomischen Horizont wird im Negativen aufgelöst.
In der Ausstellung schreibt die schleifende Dimension der Existenz ihre Spur in die Formen des Deskilling, der Prekarität und der Verfremdung ein. Falsche Äquivalenzen und Denkfehler spuken durch diese Auseinandersetzung mit einem Thema, das so alt ist wie die Idee der Moderne selbst.
