Friart widmet Bernhard Schobinger, dem Künstler im Zentrum einer Revolution der Goldschmiedekunst, eine grosse Retrospektive. Die Ausstellung würdigt eine unabhängige Figur der Schweizer Kunst in der Rückschau auf 50 Jahre eigenständiges Schaffen.
Von seinen Ursprüngen in der Konkreten Kunst, der Punk-Rebellion, dem postmodernen Eklektizismus bis hin zur kleinsten Geste mit Zen-Einflüssen, zeichnet sich Schobingers Werk durch ein ständiges Experimentieren aus, das die Enthierarchisierung der Künste fordert. Ein Überfluss an formalen und technischen Erfindungen zelebriert das Zusammentreffen von Gegensätzen und die subtile Verklärung von alltäglichen oder historisch aufgeladenen Objekten. In dieser vom Künstler eingeführten Materialdemokratie treffen edle Metalle und Edelsteine auf den Abfall der industriellen Zivilisation.
Im ersten Stock präsentiert der Künstler eine neue Werkserie, an der er seit mehreren Jahren arbeitet. Sie basiert auf Keramik-Fragmenten aus den Bombentrichtern Berlins. Diese Objekte evozieren die Verbindung zwischen Erinnerung und Zerstörung, die die Poetik des Künstlers prägen.
