Elise Corpataux (*1994, Freiburg) hat in ihrer ausdrucksstarken Malerei eine sentimentale Bildsprache entwickelt, die sich auf teilbewusste Verirrungen bezieht. Mit ihren romantischen Tropen erinnern ihre Bilder an das Vergehen der Zeit, den Lauf der Tage und die Nostalgie. Oft stehen mnestische Markierungen als Kontrapunkt für ein psychisches Leben auf der Suche nach einer Formel der Existenz.
Life isn’t good it’s excellent baut ein Panorama auf, das zugleich persönlich wie enteignet ist. In ihrer bewussten Sentimentalität ist die Zuneigung auch der Ort des Humors, genau dort, wo es besonders weh tut. Die Malerei von Corpataux weckt Kontaktzonen zwischen Erinnerung und Kunst sowie die Idee von einem Leben als Zelebration.
